ABOUT CHATTERBUGS SPEECH THERAPY
Hi! I’m Emily Buma, a licensed pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist devoted to helping children communicate with confidence, joy, and connection. I earned my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Utah and earned my Certificate of Clinical Competence here in Texas. I bring years of experience supporting children with a wide range of communication needs. I have worked with autistic children, children with Down syndrome, AAC users, and late talkers, meeting each child where they are and celebrating every milestone along the way.

My specialty areas include Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and Gestalt Language Processing (GLP). I’ve completed advanced, evidence-based training in CAS treatment through the Once Upon a Time Foundation and specialized GLP coursework through Meaningful Speech. This focused expertise allows me to provide highly tailored therapy that addresses each child’s unique communication system and helps them make meaningful, lasting progress.
OUR APPROACH
I use a child-led, play-based therapy approach that keeps learning meaningful and fun. By following your child’s interests and communication style, we create opportunities for genuine engagement and natural skill development that lasts well beyond the therapy room.
Building strong, positive relationships is at the core of my work. I want every child to feel safe, supported, and empowered as they learn new skills. I also believe that parents are essential partners in the therapy journey. Together, we collaborate to prioritize goals and create an individualized plan of care that truly fits your child’s needs — ensuring that therapy is effective, sustainable, and family-centered.
I’d love to connect and help your child take their next step toward clearer, more confident communication. Reach out today to get started!
